Due to the recent influx of users new to the franchise wanting to know how to play these games easily, I have decided to make a post detailing how to do so, hopefully in a simple way. If you choose to emulate any of these games, the process of obtaining roms or disc image files is the same for all 4 of them. That being said The original Silent Hill is fairly straight forward.
You have a few options: own an original Playstation and the retail disc for Silent Hill, both of which can be found on online markets, such as Ebay. Or, use an emulator and a disc image file or ROM.
If using an emulator, any Playstation emulator will work, the one you choose is up to you, many have pros and cons. I like to use ePSXe. If you choose emulation, you can create a disc image file or rom from a retail disc you own using silent hill 1 pc download such as Imgburn.
Downloading a rom from websites that have rom files is also possible, but I would discourage it as it is illegal. The Eternal audio plugin is the only one that i couldn't hear a single sound issue with SH 1. Edit: The GOG SH 4 version has widescreen support and the real-time shadows work fine, i just mapped the controller buttons the same way as the PC version i downloaded from a torrent site a long time ago, i think it's a great re-release. Konami, if you're reading: yes I would love to spend my money on Silent Hill games!! I've bought the SH2 and SH3 remasters too and really enjoyed playing them again. I managed to get ePSXe working eventually but as I'm normally a console gamer and not familiar with setting up PC games and such I was incredibly confused and overwhelmed and had a hard time finding any real informative guides on how to configure the emulator.
In hindsight it is simple, but most of the ones I found skipped steps and seemed to assume you already know what all these bios and drivers and other technical things are and where they go.

I asked that in this subb, someone told me that this happens in the bridge cutscene and another one in the hospital and other cutscenes i can't rememberbut i'm not sure, i stopped playing the game on RetroArch and switched to PCSX-R, silent hill 1 pc download.
